HI, I'M GRETCHEN WEISS-BROOKS
Storycrafter, artist, and designer
I make my home in Anchorage, Alaska, and put my creative talents towards acrylic paintings, screen printing, birch sculpture, photography, placemaking installations, and writing (fiction and creative non-fiction micro-stories).
I have been selling art since 2003 and my colorful style frequently centers around my life as a mother and an Alaskan. For further details, please get in touch. I'd love to chat with you.
WRITING
Whether writing micro-stories or youth novels I enjoy the process of crafting a story. With micro-stories, I experiment with fragmentation and collage-type work. With youth novels, I delve into a merge of sci-fi and fantasy.

I was honored to have been selected for a Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Award that allowed me to focus on a blend of micro-stories and art. The result is a series of poetic micro-stories that provide glimpses of a childhood growing up in Anchorage in the '80s and young adult life in the 2000's.

Currently, I can be found employed as a storyteller for the Anchorage Park Foundation and am celebrating the founding and management of a new newsprint publication Parks+Trails.
