HI, I'M GRETCHEN WEISS-BROOKS

Writer, artist, and designer

I make my home in Anchorage, Alaska, and put my creative talents towards acrylic paintings, screen printing, birch sculpture, photography, placemaking installations, and writing (fiction and creative non-fiction micro-stories). My art is showcased in galleries and cafes around Anchorage as well as other venues throughout Alaska and the US.

I have been selling art since 2003 and my colorful style frequently centers around my life as a mother and an Alaskan.  For further details, please get in touch. I'd love to chat with you.

WRITING

Whether writing micro-stories or youth novels I enjoy the process of storytelling. With micro-stories, I experiment with fragmentation and collage-type work. With youth novels, I delve into a merge of sci-fi and fantasy.

Recently I've been selected for a Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Award that will allow me to focus on a blend of micro-stories and art. This will result in a series of gallery shows and a published collection. Check back for further updates or contact me.
