Yarah is lost in a strange place there are  creatures that look like dish rags ‘yak-ing’ at her - would you follow them into the woods with trees that purr like kittens? Or stay put to find out what the dish-rag creatures are running from?

Upper elementary school student Yarah lives a quiet, average life with her mom in Anchorage, Alaska. But when repairs are needed in their condo, Yarah’s love of stories results in a gift that unintentionally sweeps her to another world full of strange experiences and a mystery. As Yarah travels back and forth between two worlds, she discovers that woven into her everyday life is an undercurrent of fantastical creatures that sought asylum from their now, nearly empty world. Yarah, with her special gift, must work quickly to solve the mystery of the empty world and help a generation of unique immigrants remember their homeland and their story.
